About me

I have a Communications and Visual Art degree from SFU which allows me to bring cultural theory, history, knowledge of advertising and contemporary art practices into my work. Last year, I worked as an Art/Educator for The Royal Conservatory where I taught students and teachers how to learn their curriculum using multimedia ( imovies, cartoon life, garage band) and art (painting, drawing). I have had the opportunity to work for more than three years with governmental and ngo organizations in graphic design, using indesign, photoshop and illustrator to make posters, advertise their marketing campaigns and create a corporate image for them. I have comprehensive knowledge of design principles, layout, the printing process and typography in graphic design. I also made two videos at SFU using Final Cut Pro. I worked on a multimedia project at the Faculty of Education at SFU as a research assistant. My five co-op jobs have allowed me to gain valuable experience in writing, advertising, promotional planning and in communicating effectively with the public in English and French. I completed my last SFU co-op term as an Assistant Editor Coop in Natural Resources Canada where I wrote articles, created posters, conducted interviews, analyzed surveys and learned about communications and marketing strategies. In Gabriola Island, I worked as an art director in a summer camp and taught courses, which I designed, in painting, jewellery making, drawing and art and crafts to children from the ages of 8-17. At the Simon Fraser Public Interest Research Group, I continued to work in graphic design as the Communications Coordinator, promoting the organization with posters, banners and other promotional materials. I created a forty page brochure of my work to advertise it on the web using promotional writing, business forms (letterheads, resumes and posters) and art which I would be happy to show you.
